From Ljubljana
By car it's about an hour on the A1 motorway to Divača, then a short drive to the park's reception centre, where parking is free. It's one of the most popular day trips from the capital.
By public transport, take a train or bus to Divača (about 1h15–1h45), from where a seasonal shuttle or a signed 3 km karst path leads to the park. Check the shuttle times, which are limited outside summer.
From Trieste and Italy
Škocjan is barely half an hour from Trieste, just over the Italian border — one of the easiest international day trips in the region. By car it's a straightforward drive; by train, cross-border services and the Divača connection make it possible with a little planning.
It combines naturally with a day exploring the Slovenian Karst wine country from the Italian side.
From the Slovenian coast
From Koper, Piran or Portorož the caves are about 45 minutes to an hour by car — an easy inland escape from a beach holiday. Buses run to Divača with the onward shuttle or walk to the park.
It pairs well with the Lipica stud farm on the way back to the coast.
By transfer
